Spotted Cow-Loving Bar Could See Felony Charges

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - A bar in Maple Grove could face felony charges for selling a popular Wisconsin beer without the proper license.

Undercover officers caught the owner of the Maple Tavern selling Wisconsin-brewed Spotted Cow beer last week.

A search warrant shows six kegs were seized.

The bar owner apparently was making beer runs to Hudson to get it.

The tavern and the employee aren't licensed to transport alcohol to Minnesota.

Owners at the craft brewery in New Glarus, Wisconsin, where they brew Spotted Cow, were thrilled to hear people love their beer that much.

"It's hugely flattering," New Glarus owner Deb Carey said. "It's kind of funny, because there was a little bit of a Facebook thing where somebody was like, 'Why would New Glarus do this? You think I would turn in someone who's buying my beer? That's crazy! I'm going to write the guy a thank you note."
