Southbound Highway 100 In Edina Closing Friday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Motorists in the Twin Cities should expect delays this weekend as a portion of Highway 100 is closing.

The Minnesota Department of Transporation says starting at 10 p.m. Friday, southbound Highway 100 will close over Highway 62. The southbound Highway 100 loop to eastbound Highway 62 and the westbound Highway 62 loop to southbound Highway 100 will also be closed.

Motorists are encouraged to take westbound Highway 62 to Highway 169, then eastbound Highway 62 to bypass the closure and get on Highway 100. MnDOT officials said the stretch of roads affected should reopen by 5 a.m. next Monday, in time for the morning commute.

The $16.7 million project should be completed by the fall of 2016.
