Police ID Man Killed In Shooting In South Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities in Minneapolis have identified the man killed in a shooting on the city's south side last Thursday.

The victim was identified as 27-year-old Mario Martell McGee, of St. Paul.

Police said the shooting happened around 8 a.m. Thursday morning at the intersection of East 24th Street and Oakland Avenue South.

Officers received calls from several people in the neighborhood reporting gunshots. Upon arrival, police found McGee lying dead in the road.

Police are working to determine what led to the shooting and who was involved.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said McGee died of a gunshot wound to the back. The manner of death was listed as homicide.
