Sommerfest To Close With US Music, Strauss Opera

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Orchestra wraps up the 2014 Sommerfest with two full orchestra concerts on July 25 and 26.

Sommerfest artistic director Andrew Litton will conduct both concerts.

On July 25, Litton leads an all-American program including Leonard Bernstein's Symphonic Dances from "West Side Story" and George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue."

Sommerfest's final concert is July 26, with a semi-staged performance of Johann Strauss' comic opera "Die Fledermaus."

Both concerts will take place at Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis.
