Snowy Owl Tries Flight Again After Wing Transplant

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- WCCO recently told you about a snowy owl at University of Minnesota's The Raptor Center. It came from Washington, D.C. with burned feathers, and couldn't fly.

Fortunately, the Raptor Center saves feathers from birds that don't survive, so the snowy owl got a feather transplant.

On Wednesday, the owl got to try out those new feathers on a tethered test flight. Volunteers let him fly at a field on the St. Paul campus.

When the snowy owl is ready to be released, it may be in northern Minnesota.
