Snow Emergency: Nearly 800 Drivers Towed In The Twin Cities

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Hundreds of drivers found themselves ticketed and towed in the Twin Cities Wednesday morning following a snowstorm that led to many snow emergency declarations.

Around a foot of snow fell in the Twin Cities, and both Minneapolis and St. Paul declared snow emergencies, along with several suburban cities.

Officials in Minneapolis reported that from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, 806 drivers were ticketed and 401 vehicles were towed for parking on snow emergency routes.

In St. Paul, 1,148 tickets were issued and 390 cars were towed since Tuesday.

Snow Emergency Rules

In the City of Lakes Wednesday, Day Two parking rules began, meaning that drivers cannot park on the even sides of city streets until they are plowed. On Thursday, parking will be prohibited on the odd sides of streets.

In St. Paul on Wednesday, all day route roads must be plowed full-width before drivers can park on them.
