Snocross On The Racetrack: Snowmobilers To Ride On Canterbury

SHAKOPEE, Minn. (WCCO) – Attention snowmobile fans: Snocross racing is back at Canterbury Park in Shakopee.

"This weekend we have two great nights of racing," said Pat Schutte of Amsoil Championship Snocross. "We actually race right on the horse racetrack, right in front of the grandstands. So, you can brave the cold and sit outside in this, or you can...enjoy the race from a nice warm area, being able to see the entire track."

The recent frigid weather has given the snocross course builders the chance to make lots of snow, and lots of big jumps.

One Minnesota racer hopes to break a record.

"I'm pretty excited," said Tucker Hibbert. "This weekend I have a chance to break the all time win record for professional snocross racing."

He says the Twin Cities crowds are great, especially when the racing is done at night, under the lights.

"Everyone out there is there to win and competitive, so there's a lot of bar-to-bar action," Hibbert said.
