Slick, Frosty Roads Lead To Accidents In The Metro

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Weather officials say heavy frost on metro roadways Sunday morning led to several accidents and spinouts.

The National Weather Service says that bridges are particularly slick and hazardous.

Forecasters say the slick spots were created as warm, moist air moved over the state and came into contact with the cold metro roadways.

The Minnesota State Patrol says that from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, there were 40 crashes reported around the Twin Cities metro. Of those, six involved minor injuries. There were also 11 vehicles that either spun out or went off the road.

Sunday's highs look to reach around 40 degrees in southern Minnesota. The warmth comes after two days of bitter December cold.
