Skijoring Kicks Off At The Loppet Festival

MINEAPOLIS (WCCO) – For those looking for something to get them outside this weekend, head to the Loppet Festival Saturday for the Skijoring event.

Some may have heard the term, but for those who may be unfamiliar skijoring is a ski race where dogs pull humans on cross country skis.

But even if you have heard the term, chances are you probably have never done it before.

Mike and Natalie definitely hadn't, until Friday when they met up with the Loppet's Race Director, Kevin Murphy, for a lesson.

To view the Chuck and Don's Skijoring Loppet head to Theo Wirth Park in Minneapolis.

There are two races.

The first is Saturday at 2 p.m. and the second is Sunday at 2 p.m.

All ages are welcome to come and it's free to watch.
