Charges: Man Fired Shotgun Toward Blaine Wal-Mart

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An 18-year-old man is accused of firing a shotgun twice in the parking lot of a Blaine Wal-Mart.

Marshall Richard Mastenbrook, of Shoreview, is charged with one count of reckless discharge of a firearm, a felony, stemming from the Aug. 6 incident, court documents filed in Anoka County show.

According to a criminal complaint, the shooting was reported at the Wal-Mart on Ball Road, with witnesses saying the suspect fired two shots toward to the superstore in the early morning hours.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two spent shotgun shell casings. Nearby, they found Mastenbrook in a car and pulled him over. A shotgun was found in the backseat.

If convicted of the reckless discharge count, Mastenbrook faces a maximum penalty of two years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Mastenbrook is slated to appear in court on Dec. 14.
