St. Paul Police Hold Fundraiser For 'Shop With Cops' Event

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – St. Paul Police are gearing up for their annual Shop With Cops holiday event.

Shop With Cops aims to better relationships with kids and police officers by inviting kids in kindergarten through 6th grades to go holiday shopping at local stores.

Each child is giving $50 to $100 to spend and is paired with an officer.

On Wednesday, a fundraiser was held to benefit the program. St. Paul police really count on this fundraiser as it generates 70-percent of the program's annual budget, which is roughly $25,000.

Organizers said Shop With Cops not only gives kids a Christmas, but it helps build their relationships with police.

St. Paul police expect to serve up to 300 kids through the program this year.
