Man shot while driving near Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis police say

Minneapolis police see rise in gun thefts from cars amid string of vehicle break-ins

Minneapolis police are investigating after a man was shot while driving Saturday evening just south of Abbott Northwestern Hospital. 

Police say they were called to the area of East 28th Street East and South 10th Avenue South just before 7 p.m. They arrived to find a man inside a car with life-threatening injuries. 

Police believe shots were fired at the car while the man was inside, causing him to crash.

According to police, the shooter fled the scene before officers arrived. They have not made an arrest.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries. 

Police are still investigating.
