Sheriff: Body of man who fell from rocks in Taylors Falls is D'Andrea Sanvig

UPDATE: Authorities have confirmed the identity of the body pulled Friday from the St. Croix River. What follows is a revised version of the original story.

CHISAGO COUNTY, Minn. -- 
The Chisago County Sheriff's Office confirmed Sunday that the body of 18-year-old D'Andrea Sanvig was recovered Friday from the St. Croix River near Taylors Falls.

Sanvig, of Luck, Wisconsin, fell from a rock cliff in Taylors Falls in April after he "lost his footing."

Deputies were not able to definitively identify the body Friday due to decomposition. The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office made the confirmation Sunday, citing Sanvig's official cause of death as drowning.

"Over the past month, extensive efforts have been put forth in an attempt to locate D'Andrea. We are grateful his family is able to move towards closure from this situation," said Cpt. Derek Anklan.
