Sheriff's Deputy Hurt In Crash With School Bus In Albertville

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say a Wright County sheriff's deputy suffered non-life threatening injuries after her cruiser was involved in a crash with a school bus Tuesday afternoon near the St. Michael-Albertville border.

The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the incident at about 2:21 p.m. at the intersection of Jason Ave. NE and Jensen Ave. NE, across from Cedar Creek Golf Course. When officers arrived, a school bus was heading westbound on Jason Ave. NE and was going to make a left turn onto Jason Ave. NE when the bus collided with a Wright County sheriff's deputy.

The State Patrol said 41 Kindergarten-aged students were aboard the bus at the time of the crash, and one complained of a thumb injury.

The driver of the squad car, identified as 34-year-old Melissa A. Meemken of Buffalo, was taken by ambulance to a hospital as a precaution for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the school bus was not injured in the crash.

The Wright County Sheriff's Office assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
