Sheriff: Yellow Medicine County Home Heavily Damaged By Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An unoccupied home in western Minnesota was heavily damaged in a fire early Sunday morning, according to the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities were called at about 2:59 a.m. Sunday to a report of a fire at a residence in the city of Echo, which is located about two hours south and west of the Twin Cities. When firefighters arrived, the residence was fully engulfed. Fire crews were able to put the blaze out quickly, but the home suffered significant damage.

The home was unoccupied, and nobody was hurt battling the fire. The Echo Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Wood Lake and Belview Fire Departments.

The State Fire Marshal says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
