Sheriff: Woman's Body Found By Farmer Near Alexandria

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say a body was found in northwestern Minnesota Monday afternoon as the case of a missing woman in the area is active and ongoing.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a report from a farmer at about 2:31 p.m. that he had discovered what was believed to be human remains in a field he was harvesting in Orange Township, which is just south and east of Alexandria.

When officers arrived, they found what appeared to be the remains of a female in her late teens to early 20s. Authorities have been searching for Laura Ann Schwendemann in the area as she had recently been reported missing.

The body was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office for a positive identification and manner of death. The case remains under investigation.
