Sheriff: Woman Shot Dead In Nobles County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 40-year-old woman is dead after a shooting in far southwestern Minnesota early Wednesday morning, according to the Nobles County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities were called at about 2:40 a.m. to a residence on the 600 block of 2nd Avenue in Brewster, Minn., after the caller stated that his wife had been shot. Brewster is located nearly three hours south and west of the Twin Cities. When officers arrived, a 40-year-old woman was found dead inside the home and had suffered from a gunshot wound.

Authorities say two other people were inside the home at the time of the incident, and they were not injured.

The Nobles County Sheriff's Office said the shooting is under investigation with assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Authorities didn't say if an arrest has been made in the incident, but said there doesn't appear to be any threat to the public. The name of the woman has not been released.

The Nobles County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Brewster Rescue and Worthington Ambulance.
