Sheriff: Woman Killed After Car Hits Tree In St. Louis County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 68-year-old woman died late Saturday night after the car she was driving went off the road and hit a tree in northern Minnesota, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities responded at about 11:47 p.m. to a single vehicle fatality crash on the 5400 block of Taft Road in Fredenberg Township. When officers arrived, the woman had been traveling west on Taft road when the vehicle went off the road into a ditch, striking a tree.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said what led up to the accident is under investigation.
