Sheriff: SUV Strikes & Kills Motorcyclist In Pierce County (Wis.)

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Pierce County, Wisconsin crash remains under investigation after a motorcyclist was struck and killed by an SUV over the weekend.

According to the county sheriff's office, the two-vehicle crash occurred on U.S. Highway 10 in Trimbelle Township. There, a motorcyclist on a 1969 Harley Davidson was traveling eastbound on the highway when he stopped to torn north onto W8766 Highway 10.

While stopped, a 2015 Honda CR-V that was also traveling eastbound struck the rear of the motorcycle, causing the motorcyclist to eject from his vehicle.

Emergency responders provided medical care for the victim -- identified as 64-year-old Michael Edward Joyce of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota -- but he was later pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the Honda has been identified as 54-year-old Mary Armstrong of Beldenville, Wisconsin. She was taken to and later released from the River Falls Area Hospital.
