Sheriff: Stacy Man Dies After Falling From Deer Stand

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 59-year-old Stacy man died Tuesday night after falling from his deer hunting stand north of the Twin Cities metro, according to the Isanti County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities responded at about 5:39 p.m. to North Branch Township on a report of a man that had fallen from his deer stand and was unconscious. When sheriff's deputies arrived, they found the victim and started CPR on him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was identified by authorities as James Swanson of Stacy. Authorities said an investigation shows he was climbing down from his deer stand when a wooden step broke free, causing him to fall about 20 feet to the ground.
