Sheriff: Possible Cougar Sighting In Mower County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Mower County Sheriff's Office says there was a possible cougar sighting Wednesday.

A resident notified the sheriff that they took pictures of a "large, cat-like creature" near Udolpho Township in the county's northwest corner.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is currently investigating and are not releasing the pictures. Officials say there have only been 14 verified cougar sightings in the last four years.

Last year, a cougar was suspected of killing a horse in Mower County.
