Sheriff: Motorcyclist Hits Deer & Is Later Struck By Minivan, Dies

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 44-year-old Princeton man is dead after he hit a deer and was later hit by a minivan Monday evening, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff.

Sheriff Joel Brott says Roger Claassen was riding his Suzuki motorcycle west on County Road 2 near 124th Street in Baldwin Township at around 7:30 p.m. That's when he struck a deer that ran onto the roadway and was thrown from the motorcycle.

When witnesses approached Claassen to render aid, a minivan traveling west veered to miss the witnesses and struck Claassen who was still on the roadway.

Emergency responders arrived and rendered CPR, but he was pronounced dead at 7:40 p.m.

There were no injuries. The identity of the second driver has not been released as the investigation continues.
