Sheriff: Man Found Dead Under Tree Near Alexandria

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 59-year-old man died early Monday afternoon after he was found pinned underneath a tree in northwestern Minnesota, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities responded at about 1:04 p.m. to a report of a man pinned under a downed tree trunk and not responsive in rural Miltona, which is north of Alexandria. When emergency personnel arrived, they found the man and attempted life-saving measures that were unsuccessful.

Authorities say the man was cutting a tree with a chainsaw at the time of the accident. The man was with at least one other person at the time.

The man's body was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine a cause of death.

On Tuesday, the sheriff's office identified the victim as 59-year-old Larry William Krause.
