Sheriff: Man Claims He Shot Himself, But Woman Suspected

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 38-year-old woman is in custody after allegedly shooting a man, who first told authorities his wound was self-inflicted.

The Pine County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a shooting Tuesday at about 6:05 p.m. at 23285 Farm To Market Road in Sturgeon Lake.

Deputies found a man who claimed he had accidentally shot himself. He was eventually taken to Saint Luke's Hospital in Duluth.

Investigators found inconsistencies with the victim's story, and evidence suggested the wound wasn't self-inflicted.

Deputies later arrested Karen Lynn Eaton, who is being held in the Pine County Jail pending formal charges.

The victim is in stable but serious condition.

The Pine County Sheriff's Office is investigating with the assistance of Duluth Police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
