Sheriff: Driver Injured After Falling Asleep, Striking Power Pole

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Pierz, Minnesota man is in the hospital after he fell asleep while driving and struck a power pole, according to the Morrison County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said it was alerted at 12:46 a.m. Wednesday to the report of an accident with injuries on 260th Avenue just south of 93rd Street in Buckman Township near Buckman.

According to the sheriff's office, a driver traveling northbound on 260th Avenue fell asleep and his vehicle left the roadway just south of 93rd Street. The vehicle then entered the ditch and struck a power pole.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Tyler Gulden, suffered injuries and was taken to an area hospital via ambulance.

The victim's current condition is unknown.
