Sheriff: Driver In Isanti Fatal Hit-And-Run Turns Himself In

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 15-year-old skateboarder near Isanti Thursday night has turned himself into authorities, according to the Isanti County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say the  adult male driver is fully cooperating with law enforcement and the vehicle has been located.

Antonio DeMeueles, a sophomore at Blaine High School, was skateboarding when a white pick-up truck with a topper hit him. A passer-by found him on 285th Avenue with serious injuries and emergency personnel attempted CPR on him at the scene, but he was pronounced dead at Cambridge Medical Center.

Authorities said the driver was heading west towards Highway 65, the same direction as Antonio. Investigators believe the truck hit him from behind as he was skateboarding down the middle of the road.

The Isanti County Sheriff's Office says the incident remains an active investigation.
