Sheriff: Cloquet Woman Shot After Threatening Deputies With Firearm

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says a suicidal woman was shot and critically wounded after she threatened deputies with a firearm near a Duluth church.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded at 10:49 p.m. Thursday to the report of a 48-year-old woman who was threatening to commit suicide by firearm.

When deputies arrived, they found a lone woman seated in her vehicle at Augustana Lutheran Church. Authorities say the woman then got out of her vehicle and threatened officers with a firearm.

That's when two officers on scene discharged their weapons, striking the woman twice.

The woman, of Cloquet, was taken to an area hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

The incident is being investigated.
