Sheriff: Bicyclist Dies From Possible Hit & Run In Vadnais Heights

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Investigators are trying to figure out who was involved in a possible hit and run last week that claimed the life of a Cottage Grove bicyclist.

The Ramsey County Sherriff's Office says 57-year-old Robert Prudhomme, who was found injured at 1:20 p.m. on the 4200 block of Centerville Road in Vadnais Heights.

He was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where doctors determined that Prudhomme's injuries were not from a mere bike accident. After seven days in a coma, Prudhomme was removed from life support on Friday morning.

Although many people stopped to help Prudhomme, investigators have been unable to find anyone who witnessed the actual accident. They believe he was biking southbound on Centerville Road at the time he was injured.

Investigators believe a gray or silver GMC SUV may have been involved in the accident, with a couple in their late 50s or early 60s inside.

Anyone who was at the scene and may have more information is asked to call the Investigations Unit of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office at 651-266-7320.
