Sheriff: Albany Man, 23, Dies In Sherburne County Drowning

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said the body of a 23-year-old Albany man was recovered from a Sherburne County lake Saturday night after an apparent drowning.

The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office was called at about 6 p.m. to Lake Freemont in the city of Zimmerman after friends of the victim lost sight of him during a swim. A group had been out boating and in the water.

Joshua Roepke went into the water, but his friends lost sight of him. About two hours later, his body was recovered in about seven feet of water. What led up to the drowning is still under investigation.
