Sheriff: 4-Year-Old Nearly Drowns In Morrison County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Morrison County Sheriff's Office is reminding parents and guardians to make sure that their children wear personal flotation devices near or in water after a 4-year-old nearly drowned Tuesday evening.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded at 7:20 p.m. to a call regarding a 4-year-old pulled out of Shamineau Lake and CPR being performed. When they arrived, the female child was conscious and alert.

The sheriff's office says the girl was playing near the water with other siblings when she fell off the end of a dock. Her father told authorities that he heard other children yelling and saw his daughter face down in the water without a personal flotation device.

The female victim was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis where, according to her family, she is supposed to make a full recovery.

The sheriff's office is also reminding parents and guardians to constantly supervise children who are near or in any body of water.
