Sheriff: 3-Year-Old Pulled Into Tiller, Killed In Wis. Farm Accident

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 3-year-old boy is dead after accidentally being pulled into a tiller on a western Wisconsin farm, according to the Burnett County Sheriff's Office.

At 3:30 p.m. Saturday, emergency personnel responded to the farm accident east of Webster on Austin Lake Road in Meenon, Wisconsin.

The sheriff's office says a 55-year-old man was operating a tractor pulling a rear-mounted PTO-driven tiller when he stopped and climbed down from the tractor to clear an obstruction.

The man's 3-year-old son, who had been riding the tractor with him, apparently exited the tractor at the same time and was pulled into the tiller when he approached it, the sheriff's office said.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's and his father's identities were not immediately released.

The Burnett County Sheriff's Office and the medical examiner are investigating the incident.
