Sheriff: 22-Month-Old Child Dies At Anoka County Day Care

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say a day care in the north Twin Cities metro has been closed while the death of a toddler is under investigation.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says 22-month-old Cameron Lange died during an incident at a day care on the 200 block of Little John Drive in Circle Pines. The day care provider's license has been suspended by the Minnesota Department of Human Services pending the outcome of an investigation.

Authorities say at this point, the child's death has been ruled an accident. It appears the boy was trying to get out of a "pack-n-play" when his head became lodged between that and another object. The boy was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say the day care provider is cooperating fully with the investigation. According to the Department of Human Services, the license is issued to woman named Amanda J. Schug.

Funeral services for Lange were held Thursday.
