Sheriff: 2 Teens Injured In Meeker County ATV Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two teenagers have been injured -- one seriously -- in an ATV crash Saturday evening, according to the Meeker County Sheriff's Office.

On June 20 at 8:05 p.m., the sheriff's office was alerted to a side-by-side ATV accident near the intersection of 675th Avenue and 365th Street in Forest Prairie Township. The reporting party said the ATV flipped onto its side and driver had her arm and leg pinned under the machine.

After arriving, emergency responders determined the vehicle was traveling northbound on 675th Avenue and as it was coming around a curve the driver over-corrected, which caused the ATV to tip onto its side. The ATV then slid on the driver's side until it came to a stop on the shoulder of the roadway.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 14-year-old Sidney Schreiner of Kimball, was airlifted to the St. Cloud Hospital for serious injuries to her arm and leg.

The passenger, 14-year-old Justin Streit of Watkins, was treated on the scene for minor injuries.

Both were wearing seatbelts but did not have helmets on.

The accident remains under investigation.
