Sheriff: 2 Bodies Recovered From Wreckage Of Minn. Plane

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — A sheriff says two bodies have been recovered from wreckage of a small plane that crashed in northern Washington state.

Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo says the plane's tail registration number matches that of an aircraft reported missing from Minnesota.

A couple from Kabetogama, Minnesota, were reportedly aboard that plane, believed to have crashed Saturday. It was reported overdue on a flight to Orcas Island in Washington's San Juan Islands.

The Bellingham Herald reports the bodies were taken Wednesday afternoon to the county medical examiner's office.

Search pilots spotted the wreckage earlier Wednesday on Twin Sisters Mountain about 10 miles east of Acme, Washington, in a remote, rugged area.
