Shakopee High School Student Arrested On Suspicion Of Sexual Assault

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An 18-year-old Shakopee High School student is accused of sexually assaulting a fellow student.

The district says staff learned about the alleged incident yesterday and immediately called police. Officers arrested the male student at the high school Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to Shakopee Police Chief Jeff Tate, the alleged sex assault happened during school hours. A 17-year-old female student said an 18-year-old male student lured her by the wrist into a locker room before sexually assaulting her. She reported the incident to friends and to a Shakopee police officer who is stationed in the high school.

School officials say they're also conducting an internal investigation.

They have not released the suspect's name.
