Shakopee senior center evacuated after car strikes gas line, causing leak

A senior living center had to be evacuated after a car struck a gas line in front of the building, causing a leak Thursday afternoon in the southern Twin Cities metro.

The Shakopee Police Department says the vehicle caused a gas meter to break off at All Saints Senior Living, located at 1880 Independence Drive, just after 4 p.m.

Eighty-four residents were evacuated from the building as a precaution and are safe, authorities say. A school across the street helped to shelter some of the residents.

According to All Saints, the residents were back in their rooms at around 11:30 p.m.
