Sewer Failure Closes Intersection In St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – City officials said due to a sanitary sewer line collapse, the area near the intersection of Phalen Boulevard and Johnson Parkway in St. Paul is closed until further notice.

Officials said the intersection will likely be closed for several days as crews work to make repairs and clean up the area. The sewer line is operated by Metropolitan Council Environmental Services. Officials said preparatory work is already underway to begin repairs. There were no injuries and no households were impacted by the collapse.

Officials said the sewer is being monitored and pumped as necessary.

Crews with St. Paul Public Works have posted a detour to divert traffic. Residents with any questions about the area are asked to call 651-602-1269 for additional information.
