Fatal Crash Closes Interstate 94 In Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are on the scene of a fatal head-on crash on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis that will cause major delays for the evening commute.

The accident happened just after 3 p.m. Monday on eastbound I-94 at Highway 280 in Minneapolis. The Minnesota State Patrol said the eastbound lanes of I-94 are closed at Highway 280 and at Huron Boulevard while emergency crews assess the scene.

The Minnesota State Patrol said Mee Y. Vue, 63, was heading westbound on I-94 and crossed the median into the eastbound lanes, hitting another vehicle head-on. Vue was killed in the incident, while the other driver suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said there is no median barrier in that area.

Traffic management cameras are showing significant traffic delays in the area. Motorists are advised to stay away from I-94 in both directions near I-35W.
