EDINA, Minn. -- A fatal motorcycle crash temporarily closed westbound Highway 62 in Edina Wednesday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened around 6:41 a.m. on the highway near France Avenue. There, a motorcyclist -- 51-year-old Tammee Sue Ponder of Lakeville -- was traveling westbound when she drifted into the left hand shoulder and made contact with the guard rail.

The state patrol says Ponder was ejected left of the roadway.

The crash closed the westbound lanes of the highway for several hours, with traffic being diverted onto France Avenue.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the incident, the patrol noted.
