Serious Crash Shuts Down Hwy 169 For Part Of Morning

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Northbound Highway 169 was shut down in Hopkins for a while Friday morning after a serious crash.

It happened just south of Excelsior Boulevard around 2:40 a.m. It appears a vehicle may have gone through the retaining wall on the side of the highway.

Two people were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with minor injuries. They were not identified by name, but were referred to as teenagers.

They were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Highway 169 was closed until about 4:30 a.m. and is now back open.

The State Patrol was investigating the incident.
