Westbound I-94 Reopens After Fatal Crash In The Northwest Metro

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The westbound lanes of Interstate 94 reopened Tuesday evening following a fatal crash in the northwest metro.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 241 in St. Michael. A box truck rear-ended an SUV before rolling on its side.

Killed in the crash was the box truck's driver, a 62-year-old Maple Grove man. His name has yet to be released.

The SUV's driver, a 37-year-old Fargo woman, was unharmed.

The roadway was closed for more than an hour as investigators worked the scene.

The crash caused significant backups during the evening commute. Traffic was diverted onto northbound Highway 101.
