Senior Living Facility Evacuated In Belle Plaine Due To Burst Pipe

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An assisted living complex in Belle Plaine was evacuated Friday afternoon after a burst pipe in the third floor and flooded much of the building.

The evacuation left at least a dozen seniors without a place to go.

Firefighters helped dozens of seniors out of the building and into City Hall across the street; none were injured.

Officials say the flowing water left the 36-unit complex in pretty bad condition, and they're not sure when residents will be able to move back in. The Red Cross is assisting the 14 residents who say they have nowhere else to go.

When first responders arrived on the scene, they found water coming out of the eves of the roof and onto the third floor ceiling, and continuing onto the rest of the floors. Authorities are inspecting the building for further damage.
