Security Officers Union Reach Tentative Contract Agreement With $15 Wage

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Security workers in the Twin Cities have finally reached a tentative agreement on a contract renewal late Wednesday night, and it includes one of their key demands.

The four-year contract, covering more than 2,000 security officers with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) chapter Local 26, guarantees a gradual increase to a $15 an hour minimum wage, along with more sick days and improved health care costs, according SEIU officials.

The agreement comes as the 4,000 janitors in SEIU Local 26 recently voted to authorize a strike if a deal isn't met by Feb. 14.

Those negotiations are still ongoing.
