Mpls. Schools Cancel Classes Ahead Of Wednesday's Cold

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Ahead of Wednesday's forecasted cold, schools across Minnesota are telling students and parents that classes will be delayed or canceled.

Minneapolis Public Schools announced Tuesday that classes and activities are canceled Wednesday. The Anoka-Hennepin School District, the state's largest, also announced that classes and activities will be canceled.

Meteorologist Matt Brickman says frigid air temperatures and strong winds will create dangerous cold across the state. In southern Minnesota, it'll feel like 30 to 40 below Wednesday morning. In northern Minnesota, it'll be even colder, with wind chill factors of 40 to 50 below.

In such conditions, it takes only minutes for frostbite to set in.
