Minnesota schools announce delays for Thursday after April snowstorm wraps up

What's the weather forecast for the Twins' home opener?

Dozens of schools in Minnesota have issued delays for Thursday classes after a spring snowstorm moved through the state over the preceding days.

The winter weather moved in on April Fools' Day and stretched into Wednesday, prompting back-to-back NEXT Weather Alerts from WCCO meteorologists.

As of 5:40 a.m. Thursday, more than 50 schools issued a delayed start, e-learning day or closure, including Alexandria Schools, Bemidji Area Schools and Red Lake School District. It comes after more than three dozen schools were reporting closings or delays of some type Wednesday morning.

Thursday forecast for Minnesota is chilly and cloudy, but dry

The early April snowstorm has wrapped up, but conditions on Thursday won't exactly be springlike.

Temperatures will top out in the 40s for most of the state, with some sunshine working through mostly cloudy skies. Aside from some early morning flakes in parts, we'll stay dry. If you're headed to the Twins' home opener, you may want to bring a blanket and some gloves.

Friday will be warmer, with temperatures pushing into the lower 50s.

More rain and snow are possible on Saturday as temperatures cool, then Sunday brings more sunshine and a short-lived warm-up. Highs are set to drop on Monday before beginning to climb again by the middle of next week.
