Iowa School Bus Driver Fired For Texting While Driving

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Des Moines school district has fired a school bus driver who'd been recorded texting and driving while on her route.

District spokeswoman Amanda Lewis says the student's cellphone video showed the driver texting last week. The 14-year-old shared the video with her mother, who went to officials.

Lewis says the driver was put on leave Friday and fired Monday. The driver had worked for the district since July 2012.

The woman could face charges, because texting while driving is illegal in Iowa. No arrest has been reported.
