'Saved By The Bell' Actor Back In Court In Stabbing Case

PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (AP) — The actor who played Screech on the 1990s TV series "Saved by the Bell" is expected to appear in a Wisconsin courtroom for a hearing on whether a stabbing case against him will proceed.

A judge in Ozaukee County should decide during a preliminary hearing Monday whether there's enough evidence to allow the case against Dustin Diamond go to trial.

A criminal complaint says Diamond and his fiancee got into a tussle with two men and a woman at the Grand Avenue Saloon in Port Washington on Christmas Day. Diamond lives in the small community 30 miles north of Milwaukee.

Diamond told police he accidentally stabbed one of the men while trying to defend his fiancee. The man was not seriously injured. Police say officers recovered a switchblade.
