MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A popular Mediterranean restaurant in downtown Minneapolis is closing its doors for good next month.

Saffron Restaurant & Lounge owners Sameh and Saed Wadi announced on Instagram Wednesday that after 10 years, they are serving their final meals on Dec. 3. Sameh Wadi said in the post that they decided not to renew their lease, but "cannot wait to share our next endeavors with you."

In a statement, Sameh said, "We are extremely grateful to all of our employees, past and present for having been an important part of this wonderful ride. Your hard work and dedication is unparalleled. A huge thank you to the guests that supported us throughout the years. Your love and support is humbling."

Saffron has been a part of the downtown Minneapolis restaurant scene since 2007 and specialized in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine.
