Ryan Dungey Caps AMA Supercross Title With Victory

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Ryan Dungey capped his second 450SX series championship season with a dominating victory Saturday night in the AMA Supercross finale at Sam Boyd Stadium.

The KTM star had eight victories in 17 races. He wrapped up the season title with three races left.

Honda's Eli Tomac was second, followed by Yamaha's Weston Peick.

"We really pushed the pace out there tonight and went back forth during the early part of the race" Dungey said about Tomac. "This was a great year. I set a (personal) record for most wins in a season with eight and couldn't be happier."

KTM's Marvin Musquin won the East-West Shootout 250SX race. The Frenchman, the Eastern Regional season champion, had seven victories in nine races.

"It's like a dream come true tonight," said Musquin, moving up to 450 next season. "I have never won in Las Vegas before and I used to watch this race back in the day when I was a kid, but tonight it's my turn. To win my very last supercross race on a 250cc is awesome."

Honda's Malcolm Stewart was second.

Yamaha's Cooper Webb, the Western Regional 250SX champion, missed the race after wrecking in practice.
