Rubio Will Wait To Decide On Spanish National Team

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Injured Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio says he will wait for the NBA season to end before turning his thoughts to playing with the Spanish national team this summer.

Rubio spoke on Monday after the Timberwolves announced he would be shut down for the final six games of the season because of lingering pain in his left ankle. Rubio was limited to 22 games this season because of the injury, which first surfaced on Nov. 7.

Rubio says he has been thinking about whether he will be able to play with Spain this summer at the European championships. He says his first priority will be making sure he is healthy and ready for next NBA season, when he will begin a four-year, $55 million contract.
